Nursing, in the Melbourne School of Health Sciences, is a vibrant learning community which seeks to influence professional practice through high quality educational experiences for our students, the conduct of practice-based research and Knowledge Transfer. Nursing boasts close working relationships with a range of industry partners in health and community services.
Nursing offers entry to professional practice masters degrees to graduates from a range of prior study areas. The delivery of entry-to-practice programs at the masters level is in line with the leading nursing schools internationally and increases the global portability of graduates. Our students have access to high quality clinical placements through our relationships with a wide range of clinical partners. Nursing also offers a range of postgraduate coursework programs that seek to prepare nurses for specialist and advanced practice. These programs are developed with considerable input from industry partners and combine academic excellence with professional practice preparation to support the leadership development of our students.
Our research training programs at masters and PhD levels are highly regarded as producing research leaders. We offer excellent research student facilities, inter-professional supervision processes, a range of student support services, including a dedicated research office, and access to the research expertise of the University of Melbourne as one of Australia’s leading research universities. Our students successfully compete for research scholarships to support their studies and are offered opportunities for broader development through teaching and learning activities within Nursing and the University.
Nursing is well known for clinical and professional research in health, mental health and child and family practice. Our research program is enhanced by collaborations with leading universities internationally. Nursing is a destination of choice for visiting researchers from many countries, creating learning exchange opportunities throughout the year.
I invite you to explore the Nursing website to learn more about our programs, staff and facilities, or to contact one of our staff for a one on one discussion of your learning and development needs.
